A bowl (or maybe half a bowl) of prunes usually sorts me out, Jenni. Don't like em but they do help. Also, try some preparation H cream after going to the loo if you are sore.

Oooooh Jenni love - not nice. The codeine make me suffer similar - doc prescribes Lactulose - apparently it's all fairly natural stuff in in and won't clash with other meds. I know you can buy it from chemists though so you could check. Do as Jean says and get some proper ointment on before things get too tricky. (I was having fresh figs but they have just gone out of season.)

Ouch Jenni, sounds very uncomfortable!
Drinking lots of water or fruit juice can help.
I only have too eat too much veg or salad (or take mtx!) and off I go!

I can't miss out on this post! Albran on alternate days with Weetabix plus prunes, dried figs and dates. I eat loads of fruit and veg but these have never worked for me on their own.

My doctor recommends Movicol if you're constipated. But drinking plenty of liquids should help. Hope things ease soon, Jenni.

Know your pain!! I find that soft fruits help more, especially things like banana, peaches, grapes etc. Also salad stuff like lettuce, tomatoes (just don't overdo the tomatoes or citrus fruits as they can play havoc if you are on stomach protectors)

Unfortunately I've had a few tears which when they're trying to heal, makes it even worse...

My doc has prescribed me lactulose and senna for when its really bad with proctosedyl to help with the healing process. Even though I love the odd bit of chocolate, I don't have a very sweet tooth and lactulose can be a bit sickly. I keep it in the fridge as it makes it easier to swallow with it not being so gloopy. I also keep the proctosedyl suppositries in the fridge because the coolness is a welcome relief.

Things that tend to make it worse for me are potatoes.... while fibre is supposed to be good I find it bulks things up, making it more painful.

Of course you then have the gorgeous pain killers like codeine etc... which block me up even more! I always try and drink plenty of fluids throughout the day but I do love my cups of tea! So for every cup of tea, I follow that up with a small glass of water. I also drink a glass of orange juice with each meal as this helps my body absorb iron, and helps move things along a bit more...
